On November 13, 2022, at 7:33 p.m., the Ida County Communications Center received a 911 call of a fight in progress on Main Street in Galva, Iowa.

At 7:45 p.m. deputies from the Ida County Sheriff's Office arrived on scene and discovered a male later identified as Eduardo Diaz III, 26 of Holstein, Iowa lying on a sidewalk. The Ida County Medical Examiner pronounced Mr. Diaz dead at the scene.

Jesus Isai Diaz, 24 of Galva, Iowa was transported from the scene by the Holstein ambulance to Horn Memorial Hospital in Ida Grove, Iowa for medical treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. He was then transported to the Ida County jail where he was charged with murder in the 1st degree. Mr. Diaz is currently being held in the Ida County jail.

The investigation into this incident is continuing by the Ida County Sheriff's Office and the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation.
