Multi Agency Pursuit

On February 13, 2024, at approximately 9:01 p.m., the Ida County Sheriff's Office was notified that a pursuit initiated in Dunlap, Iowa was heading towards Ida County.

At 9:06 p.m., the pursuit entered Ida County on U.S. Highway 59. As the pursuit entered Ida County, an Ida County Deputy Sheriff positioned himself at the intersection of U.S. Highway 59 and 280th Street.

As the suspect vehicle continued traveling north the Ida County Deputy deployed his stop sticks in an attempt to slowly deflate the tires of the suspect vehicle. The deployment was successful, and the suspect vehicle eventually came to a stop at the intersection of Keystone Avenue and 210th Street in rural Ida County.

At that time, a perimeter was established around the section and officers from several agencies began a ground search for the suspect who had fled on foot. Eventually, the suspect was located hiding in a feed wagon. The individual hiding was later determined to be Onterrrail Redmond Altman, 26 of Fort Dodge, Iowa. Mr. Altman was taken into custody without incident.

He was transported to the Harrison County Jail in Logan, Iowa.

Assisting the Ida County Sheriff's Office at the scene were the Dunlap Police Department; Crawford County Sheriff's Office; Crawford County Emergency Service; Sac County Sheriff's Office; Woodbury County Sheriff's Office and the Iowa State Patrol.
